Butterflyz - Alicia Keys

Songs in A Minor is the debut studio album by American recording artist Alicia Keys. It was released in the United States on June 5, 2001 by J Records. After graduating from high school, Keys signed with Columbia Records to begin her music career. She recorded an album in 1998 under the label, which they rejected. Her contract subsequently ended with Columbia after a dispute with the label, and Keys later signed with Clive Davis. An accomplished, classically-trained pianist, Keys wrote, arranged and produced a majority of the tracks on the album. Contrary to its title, the album contains only one song, "Jane Doe", in the key of A minor.
Upon its release, the album received generally positive reviews from music critics, who noted her ability to catch an old-school jazz sound and mix it with R&B and soul melodies. Keys was compared by critics to such artists as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Billie Holiday, Prince and Lauryn Hill. The album earned Keys several awards and accolades, including five Grammy Awards at the 44th Grammy Awards. Songs in A Minor debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling over 236,000 copies in its first week. It has sold over 6.2 million copies in the United States and twelve million copies worldwide. Rolling Stone magazine named Songs in A Minor the second best album of 2001, while ranking it number 95 on its list of the best albums of the 2000s decade.

A Woman's Worth - Alicia Keys

"A Woman's Worth" is a song by American singer–songwriter Alicia Keys. A piano-driven soul ballad with elements of contemporary R&B and neo soul, it was written by herself and musician Erika Rose and produced by Keys for her debut album, Songs in A Minor (2001).
The track was released as the album's second single in February 2002 following the worldwide success of her debut single the previous year, and became another top ten success for Keys in New Zealand and the United States, where it also reached number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The accompanying music video, directed by Chris Robinson, is a continuation of the "Fallin'" video and explored what happens when Keys' onscreen love interest gets released from prison and he tries to acclimate to society.
The clip was nominated for both Best R&B Video and Best Cinematography at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards, while the song won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding

Uninvited - Alanis Morisette

"Uninvited" is a song written and recorded by Alanis Morissette, and co-produced by Morissette and Rob Cavallo for the soundtrack of the 1998 film City of Angels (see City of Angels: Music from the Motion Picture). Morissette's first new recording since her international debut album Jagged Little Pill (1995), it was released as a single from the album in March 1998 (see 1998 in music). The song is driven by four piano notes and builds to an instrumental climax.

You Oughta Know - Alanis Morisette

"You Oughta Know" is a song originally performed by Canadian recording artist and songwriter Alanis Morissette, for her third studio album Jagged Little Pill. The song was written by Morissette along with Glen Ballard, who was also the song's producer. The song was chosen to be released as the lead single from the album by Maverick Records on July 7, 1995. It was her first song in her change from bubblegum pop to the alternative rock sound she was later known for.
"You Oughta Know" was highlighted as an album track, and it received generally positive reviews from critics. As a debut single, the song did moderately well on the music charts. The song peaked at number four in Australia and number twenty in Canada, while reaching the top forty in countries like Sweden, New Zealand, Belgium and the United Kingdom. Due to this success, the song won two Grammy Awards: Best Rock Song and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Song of the Year.

A Whole New World - Aladdin's Theme

"A Whole New World" is the Oscar winning featured pop single from the soundtrack to the 1992 Disney film Aladdin. It was composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice. The song is a ballad between the primary characters Aladdin and Jasmine about the new world they are going to discover together. The original version was sung by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga during the film. They also performed the song in their characters at the 65th Academy Awards, where it won Best Song.
A single version of the song was previously released that year and was performed by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle. This version is played in the movie's end credits and is referred on the soundtrack as "Aladdin's Theme". As the biggest pop hit for each artist, this version peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on March 6, 1993, replacing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", which had spent a then record fourteen weeks at the top of the chart. The track peaked at #9 in the UK Singles Chart in 1992. The song is the first and, to date, only song from a Disney animated film to top the Billboard Hot 100.
